Welcome

I grew up around a family absolutely in love with food and everything related to it. The atmosphere that it creates, the appreciation for food, the family bonding, the creation of food, the memories it engraves in all of our hearts.

This blog is about sweet indulgence of life!

In this blog you will find reviews... mainly photo reviews of places and restaurants that I`ve stumbled upon and have come to love.

About my postings: Until I am up to date ... my postings will not be chronological and please note do not assume I had all the food in one sitting.. though at times it will be, as I return to each place of interest I will add pictures as well.

I hope you enjoy my findings and eventually try them too!

Yang`s Izakaya & Japenese Cuisine

Location: 8432 Leslie Street Unit 110, Markham

Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/YangsIzakayaJapaneseCuisine
________________________________________________________________
What I loved:
1. Sashimi is amazing and definitely value for your buck! VERY VERY FRESH
2. Sweet Shrimp needs to be showcased - size of shrimp great and is much better than Guu sweet shrimp sashimi hands down.
3.Waygu Beef - this not for faint heart nor for the health freaks - if you enjoy foie grois you would definitely enjoy the way this dish melts in your mouth.
4. Service was amazing, food came at a good pace and you were always eating ! A particular favourite thing of mine...is they almost watch you eat...and bring out the food FRESHLY made (cut or cooked) as you finish your previous dish. It is something I notice because if you've eaten with me ...I do tend to order too much so we always seem to have very little table space regardless of the party size =)

Interesting Bit:
1. NOT associated with Yang`s Buffet (yes I asked them the first time I went there)
2. The whole fish sashimi dishes are served in two steps (1) Sashimi the whole fish (2) head to tail is then taken and cooked in three options; grilled, deep fried, or cooked in broth with udon.

Seared Scallops with Foie Grois ($9.99)
 Sake Clams
 Baked Oysters
 Beef Carpaccio ($8.80)
 Sashimi: Sweet Shrimp ($9.50)
Sweet Shrimp Heads Deep Fried (second part of Sashimi order)

 Sahshimi Tobiou (Flying Fish) ($40.00)
5 Kind Sashimi ($19.80)
 Grilled Black Cod ($13.00)
 Waygu Beef ($100.00)

Website: http://www.wildfiresteakhouse.com/

What I loved:
1. Rack of Lamb = perfection! I have yet to find another place that is even remotely worth comparing to Wildfire's lamb entree. The $50.00 price tag is definitely worth it!
2. Beef Carpaccio and grilled calamari are instant favourites of guest I have!
3. Wine selection - you can always count on the in house sommelier for "the great vine advise"!

Interesting Bit:
1. Part of Winterlicious and Summerlicious in Toronto
2. Lobsterfest $45.00 for a 3 course meal

 Grilled Calamari ($14.95)

 Rosemary Seared Beef Carpaccio ($15.95)

La Maquette Restaurant

Location:111 King Street East, Toronto, Ontario M5C 1G6
Website: http://www.lamaquette.com/

What I loved:
1. Foie Gras dish was a new twist for me and it was delicious!
2. Smoked Salmon & Lobster Salad - was such an interesting dish and presentation, so simple yet so good, an easy dish I will definitely replicate for my dinner parties

What could be better:
1.  Deconstructive Tiramisu - sounded better than it tasted, the crumble was a little disappointing I thought they would have had soaked lady fingers or possibly soaked sponge cake.
2. Latte Tartuffo - was good but way too pricey for what you get for ...it may very well beat my expensive marble slab creations and half the portion too!

Interesting Bit:

1. Part of Winterlicious Toronto
2. Voted "Most Romantic Spot" by Dine Toronto and "Voted Best Ambiance" by Where Toronto Magazine

 La Maquette French Kiss ($12.00)
Smoked Salmon & Lobster Salad ($24.00)
 Foie Gras ($26.00)
 8oz Striploin ($34.00)
 Rack of Lamb ($40.00)
 Latte Tartuffo ($12.00)
Deconstructive Tiramisu ($12.00)

Blacksmith Bistro

Location:166 Main Street Unionville, Ontario L3R 2G9
Website: http://www.blacksmithsbistro.com/
________________________________________________________________
What I loved:
1. Sea bass was done well very nicely!
2. love the decor and open kitchen concept.

Interesting Bit:

1. Located in the heart of Historic Mainstreet Unionville, one of my favourite streets in GTA!
2. With a rich history stemming back to 1840, Blacksmiths Bistro originally produced wooden carriages and later became the village blacksmith shop. Although the Bistro has come a long way, much has been done to maintain its history and unique country charm. (taken from website)

 Beef Carpaccio ($14.00)
 Oysters ($3.00/oyster)
 Daily Risotto ($22.00)
Daily Catch: Sea bass on a bed of arugula salad ($26.00)
